The battle royale trend has taken over. But Fortnite and PUBG now have many competitors for the best battle royale games.
There are free battle royale games, AAA titles in the genre, and games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 now have battle royale modes.
However, all of these can be just as fun to play. So what are the best battle royale games in 2019?

1. Fortnite
2018 saw Fortnite become one of the biggest games in the world. With 10.7 million concurrent players in February 2019 alone, it’s safe to say it’s still one of the best battle royale games in 2019.
The colorful graphics and easy-to-learn gameplay make Fortnite a joy to play. What’s more, it’s available on Windows, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS. Cross-play is also available so you can play with your friends on any console.
It also benefits from regular updates which keep things fresh. In fact, it may have reached the point of too many items, but playing is still a ton of fun- especially with friends.
2. Apex Legends
Apex Legends is the next big trend in gaming. It mixes the battle royale genre with the multi-character formula of MOBAs and shooters like Overwatch.
You can play as many different Legends, each with their own unique abilities and stats. This makes it stand out a lot more than other battle royale games, where each game can often feel the same.
It’s also free-to-play. You can get Apex Legends on Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
3. Call of Duty Blackout
Blackout isn’t a standalone battle royale game, but rather one of the game modes in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
As such, this is a paid game, but still well worth the play. There are all kinds of guns and vehicles on land, sea, and air. It also benefits from regular updates.
It takes elements from the Call of Duty formula. The graphics are incredible and the guns are much more satisfying to use than those of, say, PUBG or Fortnite.
When it comes to top-notch graphics and quality gameplay, this is one of the best battle royale games in 2019.

4. PUBG
PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS was the first battle royale game to start the trend and still one of the biggest today. It takes a slightly more serious tone than Fortnite with more realistic graphics.
PUBG also benefits from multiple maps. If one of the worlds gets stale, no problem, you can choose to play on Vikendi, Erangel, Miramar or others. Most of these are bigger than Fortnite’s only map.
You can play it on mobile, PC or consoles. However, performance can often be rough for those without top specs. Unlike many other battle royale games, you also need to pay for PUBG.
5. CS:GO Danger Zone
Like Blackout, CS:GO Danger Zone is a fresh game mode in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. You can play it for free, although the main game is much better.
As far as the battle royale mode goes, this feels like more of a fun distraction than an all-out battle royale game.
The graphics, performance, and gameplay all pale in comparison to other battle royale games. The map is dull, the mechanics are weak, and even kills don’t feel too satisfying.
It’s worth trying out, but this is most likely the worst battle royale game on the list.
