Super Smash Bros Ultimate is one of the most hyped games of all time, but we have a long wait till December to play it. And while you can always get on some Smash Bros for WiiU or 3DS, you might want to try out some other games like Smash Bros.

Luckily there’s no shortage of fighting games with ensemble casts and fast-paced action. You can find plenty of games like Smash Bros for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and Steam. Some are even available on smartphones. Here are 5 of the best Super Smash Bros alternatives.

1. Brawlout (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

If you’re looking for games like Smash Bros, this 2.5D platform fighter is about as similar as you can get. only instead of playing as Mario and Donkey Kong you’ll have to settle for lads like “Old Ironbeak” and “The Ocean Enforcer”.

Luckily its recent PS4 release has seen the introduction of video game characters like Yooka-Laylee and Juan (Guacamelee).

You can buy Brawlout on Steam, and pretty much any other console.

2. Brawlhalla (PC, MacOS, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

Brawlhalla is a fun, fast-paced pixel art brawler. It’s completely free to play and has its own growing esports scene, with tournaments and leaderboard. You can even play Brawlhalla for money at DreamHack Montreal.

You can download Brawlhalla for free on Steam and PS4. It’s also coming to Xbox One and Switch soon.

3. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (PS4)

The 3D RPG-laced fighting is a little different to SSB, but if you want to see what Cloud Strife does in his off-time from Smash Bros, check out Dissidia. The game is packed with every Final Fantasy favorite from Tidus to Kefka.

You’ll need a PS4 to play, although previous versions are available on PSP and PSVita.

4. Rivals of Aether (PC, Xbox One)

Rivals of Aether technically started out as Super Smash Land, a pixelated demake of Super Smash Bros. Designer Dan Fornace took the concept and introduced his own unique mechanics and characters.

It even has some third-party characters like Ori and Sein from Ori and the Blind Forest. Indie favorite Shovel Knight is also a playable character.

5. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

The gameplay of MVC: Infinite is based on Street Fighters rather than Smash Bros. But if you love Marvel movies and Capcom games, this cast might even impress you more!

You can play as Black Panther, Captain America, Spider-Man, and even Thanos. You also get Capcom favorites like Ryu, Chun-Li, Dante (Devil May Cry), and Zero from Mega Man X. It also has a competitive online mode, so all your fighting game needs are covered.
