Echo Fox were the big winners of the roster lock deadline. The team added former C9 support and NA LCS veteran Smoothie to their bot lane in a move that is sure to make them one of the favourites to advance to Worlds.

The news officially broke via a video posted on the team’s YouTube channel. If you’ve followed NA for a number of years, you might’ve recognized the video as a spoof of Team Liquid’s own Smoothie introduction from a few years ago.

Say Goodbye to Adrian Altec and Fenix

Smoothie’s addition didn’t come without consequences, though. Echo Fox dropped Adrian, Altec and Fenix as a result. The departure of Fenix and Adrian isn’t too surprising given the success of Damonte in the mid lane and the fact that Adrian hasn’t seen real action in weeks. It’s Altec’s dropping that caught many fans off guard.

Altec hasn’t performed up to par this split, but with the changing meta and alternating supports, not many people were blaming him directly. That being said, Lost is reportedly being promoted to take his place and the young ADC was one of the most promising players in all of the Academy earlier this year.

With one of the best supports in North America by his side, Lost will have some lofty expectations attached to him for the rest of the split.

Echo Fox Adds Smoothie

Echo Fox will face FlyQuest on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Smoothie will have a chance to upstage his old team as Echo Fox takes on C9 in the last match of the weekend.
