The Philadelphia Fusion have released three players into free agency.

The release was announced on the Fusion’s Twitter Sunday afternoon. In the tweet, the Fusion mentioned that Supports Joe “Joemeister” Gramano and Jeong-Hwan “DayFly” Park were being released.

ShaDowBurn, who most recently competed in the 2018 Overwatch World Cup as a DPS on Team Russia, was released as well.

So long, ShaDowBurn

ShaDowBurn signed with the Philadelphia Fusion to form a fearsome, flexible DPS Duo with Jae-hyeok “Carpe” Lee.  Despite eventually being replaced by Josue “EQO” Corona as a starter, ShaDowBurn was instrumental in the Fusion’s Stage 2 Playoff qualification.

The Russian Genji most recently had a phenomenal group stage in the Overwatch World Cup, pairing with Stanislov “Mistakes” Danilov to try and upset powerhouses Team South Korea and Team Finland. However, Team Russia just fell short of a spot at the OWWC Finals in Blizzcon, with SK and Finland advancing.

The new free agent took to Twitter to share his appreciation for his time with the Philadelphia Fusion.

Joemeister and Dayfly have retweeted the Fusion’s original announcement, but have yet to make public statements of their own.

Where ShaDowBurn is headed next is unknown. However, Mistakes was recently released by the Boston Uprising. Perhaps a Team Russia reunion will lead to an Overwatch League Season 2 expansion.
