The inaugural NBA 2k18 League isn’t too far away and the incredible prize pool has been revealed.
While some competitions struggle to put together a $30,000, the combination of NBA, EA and a host of advertisers, the competition has a whopping $1m prize-pool.
In a post on the NBA2K website, a few more financial details were revealed, including just how much the players for each of the 17 franchises will be earning.
“All players will be signed to a six-month contract, with the first-round draft picks to be paid a base salary of $35,000 and all other players being paid a $32,000 base salary.
“Players can sign endorsement deals to earn income in addition to their NBA 2K League compensation package, subject to league guidelines.”
If that sounds too good to be true, then, unfortunately, you have missed the qualifying rounds to be part of the inaugural draft.
You could have qualified by winning 50 games in NBA 2K18’s Pro-Am mode and submitting an application following this requirement between January 1–31, 2018.
After that, the top 102 players will then be identified for a draft in March where each team will select 5 players; if only I wasn’t terrible at NBA…
Big salaries and great benefits
The post also revealed that players will have their travel, food and housing paid for during the competition as well as having medical and retirement plans.
Anyone look enough to be picked up for a team might just end up with a better job than most 9-5ers… we’re not jealous, we’re not jealous AT ALL.
The first NBA2K League will begin in March, with 17 teams ready to battle it out in three cups and one epic league championship.
