World leading female eSports player Sasha ‘Scarlett’ Hostyn has just been crowned champion of the Intel Extreme Masters 2018 tournament in South Korea.

The StarCraft 2 star is by far one of international eSports female icons and took the competition by storm to claim the overall winner’s prize of $50,000.

In 2016, the Guinness Book of World Records certified Hostyn as being the world’s highest earning professional gamer, having amassed somewhere within the region of $200,000 from prize money aloe throughout her career.

Along with that title, her triumph at the Intel Extreme Masters marked another, arguably more significant milestone, as she became the first ever female to win a major StarCraft 2 tournament.

In an industry dominated by men, Hostyn is a prominent figure amongst the eSports community and is a terrific role model for young gaming girls with aspirations of not only making it as a pro but to be the best player about.

Her achievement in South Korea will be heightened further by the fact that the competition was collaborated with the International Olympic Committee, and even took place in the same area where the Winter Olympics are happening.

This also marked the first ever Olympic-backed eSports competition since news of the IOC considering the inclusion of eSports in summer and winter games in the years to come.
