No Marvel vs. Capcom at Evo 2018?

The line up for one of the biggest fighting tournaments has been announced.

Evo 2018, which takes place in August and is basically the World Cup and Super Bowl combined within the fighting community.

And the list of the eight games set to be featured has been announced and there is one glaring omission.

The usual names are there, in fact, here is the full list

  • Super Smash Bros. 4
  • Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition
  • BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle
  • Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
  • Injustice 2
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ
  • Tekken 7

Can you see the game that is missing? Yep! For the first time ever, Marvel vs Capcom will not be featured at an EVO tournament.

Why? Well, according to event organisers, it appears they are pretty adamant that MvC: Infinite is on a ‘slippery slope’ since release.

“We know [MvCI] was on a slippery slope and it had a lot of competition going forward, and it just kind of… fizzled,” said EVO tournament organizer Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar.

“It’s not to talk smack on Marvel or anything. It’s always been a great game for EVO [and] it’s had a stoic 15 years at EVO. It was the main game for eight straight years, it was crazy.

“But I don’t think people are playing it, and that’s the problem. We’ve always had to support games that people actually play. ”

As you can imagine, there are still plenty of MvC fans who are pretty furious about the announcement and they decided to take to Twitter to share their thoughts about the omission.
