1. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Not only is Smash Bros one of the most entertaining games to play, but players who go beyond beating their friends on the couch can earn big money!
Every game in the series changes up the mechanics a little, and the upcoming Smash Bros. Ultimate boasts a bigger roster than ever. Get practising those new characters early for a competitive advantage.
Smash 5 will be released for Switch on December 7, 2018.
2. Quake Champions
Quake has a long-running history as an esport with prize pools of up to $1 million, and Champions looks to take it even further.
This fast-paced shooting game is ideal for run-and-gun players from games like Overwatch and Call of Duty. You can play Quake Champions on Steam right now to start honing your skills.
3. NBA 2k18
The NBA 2K League is run by NBA themselves. The first season started this May and runs until August, with the winning team taking home $300,000.
While it’s available on Xbox One and PS4, the league is played on PC so aspiring pros will have to get NBA 2K18 on Steam.

4. Unreal Tournament
Similar to Quake, this legendary arena shooter will be getting a reboot from Epic Games. With the creators of Fortnite backing this project, it’s likely you’ll see it develop into an esport in time.

5. Skull and Bones
Ubisoft’s upcoming game promises competitive 5v5 pirate battles based on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. With competitive seasons included in casual play, it has a lot of potential as an esport.
Players can sign up for the Skull and Bones beta for updates. You might have to wait though- recent news suggests it won’t be released until 2019.
