PlayStation Classic is going to be the Christmas present every millennial wants.
Following the release of the likes of the NES and SNES classic, PlayStation is set to throw their hats into the ring. The PlayStation Classic will launch later this year and have 20 of the systems best games pre-loaded on to it.
The news was revealed on the PlayStation website and will cost £89.99 – more than the two consoles released by Nintendo. It looks like the release to celebrate 25 years since the PS1 hit the market in Japan way back in 1993. The PS1 was one of the best selling consoles of all time, pushing an astonishing 102.49 million units until the PS2 crushed that total in 2000.
As for the PlayStation classic, well it looks like it will be a much more polished version of the original PS1. On the PlayStation website, they revealed that the console will have real-time 3D rendered graphics and will be 45% smaller than the old system.
How much is it?
£89.99 but some sites will sell them on deals, so it is worth shipping around and definitely pre-ordering one before they go.
What games are on it?
We know that 20 games in total will come pre-loaded, but so far only Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms have been announced.
What other games could we expect?
Well, we would hope that the likes of Gran Tourismo 2, Metal Gear: Solid and Resident Evil are included. Hopefully, we could also see PaRappa the Rapper, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 and Twisted Metal; that would be amazing.
When does it come out?
December 3, 2018! This marks the 25th anniversary of the console’s release in Japan. Like we said earlier, pre-order this because Christmas and the overall hype surrounding it will mean you could miss out. We have seen the likes of the NES classic selling for triple the price on eBay because they became hard to get hold of.
