G2 Esports are reeling. After dominating the first three weeks of the split and looking unbeatable for the first part of Rift Rivals, they’ve lost their last three games, including one to Giants Gaming, the second worst team in EU.

It all started with game one of the NA vs EU Rift Rivals finale when G2 were dismantled by NA’s Echo Fox. Fox shut down G2’s gold funnel strategy and cruised to one of the most decisive victories of the tournament. Then back in the EU, Misfits handed G2 their first official loss of the split and knocked them out of first place.

Game 2 of week 4 for G2 was against Giants Gaming and it should’ve been one of their easiest wins so far, but they dropped the ball and finished the weekend an abysmal 0-2.

This week things aren’t going to get any easier. If G2 wants to stop the bleeding, they first have to go through Team Vitality, the third-place team in EU. Vitality has looked strong as of late and are looking for a redeeming win after falling to first-place Misfits last week. Plus, a win for Vitality would bring them level with G2 as far as records go.

After Vitality, G2 will have to face off against a solid Roccat squad. Vitality gets off a little easier with a day 2 matchup against Splyce.
