Do you think you can name the best video game reveals of all time?
At the time of writing, Bethesda might just be pulling off one of the best reveals to one of their new games. Whether it be a remaster or an actual new addition to the series, it doesn’t matter because they are totally crushing it on social media, and on Twitch. The hype train is real.
But what other great reveals came before this one? With it being close to the game reveal fiestas of E3 and PAX, what better time to look at five brilliant video game reveals.
1. The Last of Us 2
The Last of Us was revealed at the PlayStation Experience in 2016 and was enough to make the crowd go absolutely nuts. The first game is considered one of the greatest games of all time, and the sequel is preparing to be the same. When it was revealed, the audience reaction was enough to spotlight how excited fans are for the sequel.
The initial crowd pop when the firefly logo popped up is like something you’d hear in early 2000’s wrestling. This was promptly followed by the massive reaction to a grown-up Ellie playing the guitar, and ending with the reveal of Joel – both from the original game.
If this reaction video didn’t give you chills, then I don’t know what would.
2. Final Fantasy VII remake reveal
Another PlayStation 4 exclusive that got all of us incredibly excited. This was revealed almost three years ago now, but with each trailer fans just keep getting more and more excited. However, it was the initial reaction from fans at E3, and those watching at home, that we’re looking at. To be fair, the prospect of getting to battle it out against Sephiroth is enough to get me all sorts of excited.
3. Death Stranding
Any game that involves Hideo Kojima is enough to get us excited, and rightly so. However, the anticipation for this has been building ever since Kojima left Konami back in 2015, with this initial trailer being released in 2016. Again, this is ANOTHER game that is a PlayStation exclusive, and another one that fans went nuts for.
4. Super Smash Bros Melee
A game we all loved back in the day; I hadn’t actually seen this reaction video until recently, and it is absolutely brilliant. I do remember reading Nintendo Power and getting so very excited to battle it out with the likes of Mario and Link.
One thing is for sure; it is a great way to step back to what gaming was like in the early 2000s.
5. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
This was the first Zelda game for the Nintendo Wii, so there was plenty to get excited about. As you can imagine, fans were pretty hyped, mainly since the last proper game in the series was more than five years previous.
Again the pop from the crowd when you first see Link was very exciting, and enough to make your hair stand on end.
