The terms for the RNG KFC deal have been finalized.
Royal Never Give Up, a team in China’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL), has signed a 1-year deal with Kentucky Fried Chicken. KFC will be joining Mercedez Benz, Lynx, and Logitech G as a sponsor of RNG.
The RNG KFC deal was announced via the team’s Weibo, complete with the renaissance painting of advertising. All eight players on Royal Never Give Up stand in front of a gigantic sun made out of fried chicken.
A partnership with Riot Games in 2015 brought League of Legends thematics to KFC’s 5,000 restaurants in China. However, the RNG KFC deal is the first team specific sponsorship KFC has signed with an esports team.
Royal Never Give Up has won every major tournament in 2018 and solidified itself as the team to beat. Despite still needing to qualify for the 2018 League of Legends World Championship, RNG has been pencilled in as the favourite to win the tournament.
In an interview with Riot’s Eefje “Sjokz” Deportere at the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational, Mid Laner Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao deemed 2018 “the year of RNG”. The RNG KFC deal should fuel them to the finish line.
