16-year-old Brit Donavan ‘DhTekKz’ Hunt has been crowned winner of the FUT Champions Cup after defeating Nicolas ‘Nicolas99fc’ Villabla 9-3 on aggregate in the final in Barcelona, taking home $22,000 in prize money.

Not bad for a man yet to sit his A-Levels.

The competition was Hunt’s first ever tournament as a professional FIFA player, and the youngster took some well-established scalps for his own along the way.

On route to the final Hunt defeated Kurt ‘Kurt041’ Fenech, the self-proclaimed world’s greatest FIFA player, whilst also defeating Niklas ‘NRaseck7’ Raseck who knocked out Spencer Ealing, the FIWC Champion from England.

Over 100 FIFA players were competing for a prize pool worth $200,000 whilst, but perhaps more importantly, a spot in the Global Series Playoffs for FIFA 18.

According to Red Bull, following his triumph Hunt said: “Honestly, I don’t know what to say. I came into the tournament expecting to do well, got some hard match-ups, came through it and believed I could win.”

Even the commentators were also lost for words over the teenager’s victory and praised him tirelessly for his efforts over the course of the entire tournament.

Richard Buckley went as far as to suggest that this may have been the biggest FIFA shock in the history of eSports to put the young man’s achievement into perspective.

Hunt, himself, summed up his own feelings regarding his achievement in a tweet:

FIWC 2017 Champion Spencer Ealing was also quick to congratulate his compatriot, whose achievement has continued the tradition of world-leading FIFA players coming from the UK.

Having sealed his spot in the FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs in June, Hunt will be hoping to build on his first FIFA tournament and cement his place as one of the world’s finest FIFA players.

Aged only 16, the future is bright for this young man. This will definitely not be the last you hear of DhTekKz.
